Ishigami figured it all out in season 1. He was the first one. But Kaguya denied it and then scared him half to death about ever mentioning it again. He's probably learned to ignore it all to keep himself out of danger. Chika has gotten close but there's been so many mixed messages and there's always been some distraction to throw her off at the last minute. She's too innocent to understand the games being played and expects more obvious stuff. And Miko has jumped so far ahead that she's missed the mark as well as everything can be explained as her misinterpreting things and overreacting.

I don't see anyone talking about this, but I really think the kaiju inside of Kafka is responding to the gloves made from #2, not the director. I haven't read the books, but I imagine it will destroy the gloves and then end its rampage. Showing he won't kill innocents and that the thing in him only wants to kill other kaiju. I think these kaiju have factions, and this probably just a turf war humans are now caught in. This one in Kafka just seems to have an agenda for the destruction of its own species. Maybe the writer inside of me is just going down a tin foil hat rabbit hole though.

Shamo chickens are one of the craziest chicken breeds in the world. They are extremely tall (up to 30 inches), bred for rooster fighting (although the hens are also quite similar in appearance and nearly as large). Probably the closet thing to actually having velociraptors still walk among us. As far as I know there is nothing particularly notable about their eggs or meat, although the hens are not known to lay many eggs per year. The best chicken eggs come from the Maran breed, and the best meat is from the Bresse chicken. Chika was obviously BSing. A real connoisseur would have gotten those things right.

No it isn't trying to preserve itself....It's trying to Do what Kafka doesn't want to do....Kill Kaiju! But the Kaiju in him doesn't see that the person in front of him is a human wielding a Kaiju weapon. The chief resembles a Kaiju and Kafka's Kaiju wants it gone!

Something that' lost in translation is that when Mina was talking to Kafka, she switched from formal to informal and back to formal attitude. The "you" she used in several sentences actually switched from "omae" (formal, for outsiders) to "kimi" / "Kafka-kun" (for a close friend) when the camera wasn't on, and then back to "omae" when she said "sit, its' time". This is something usually lost in English translations because English language does not distinguish between formal and intimate form. For Europeans I hope they make that distinction in their translations.

Shinomiya knows nothing if you go by this episode, he's just a blind old man, maybe it'll change in the future though. The judgement is BS by itself, what did you expect a Kaiju/Person who transforms into Kaiju to do when you pound him to death? Complete insanity. Look - it defendend itself, filthy kaiju!

Just so you know only one number weapon can be made for each numbered kaiju.

Not sure when Kaiju #1 rampaged, but given that #2 was in the 70's I would not be surprised if they started numbering them in 1954.

After this ep I just went for the manga. It's 3 am, I'm 65 chapters in (started from the current episode), and no spoilers, but we're in for a hell of a season 2, guys. Next week's going to be fire as well.

The Fire Nation is strongest when there's no named antagonists leading it. They're unstoppable this episode with Zhao gone, preventing travel to Omashu by air or land and forcing them underground, and then capturing it offscreen.

Kaiju No 6 was "The King of Kaiju". It had a Fortitude of 9.6 and caused snowstorms wherever it went. 200 Defense Force Officers including 3 Captains (one of whom was Kikoru's mom) died fighting it. That may put all of this into perspective as Kafka has a Fortitude of 9.8 and the Defense Force still seems to be recovering their strength in the aftermath.

With multiple of their comments, I am convinced they have payed 0 attention to anything in the anime so far

A very interesting thing I read was that it seems like the kaiju within Kafka took control not because it was scared, but because it wants to eliminate the threat. It said "Kill....kill....kaiju....kill" like a robot almost, like it was programmed to murder other Kaiju. Kafka mentioned it was reacting to Isao's Daikaiju presence, so maybe it recognizes an "Enemy" kaiju great enough that it needs to eliminate. Since Kafka was holding back, it took control because of the strong Kaiju Presence.

I think maybe there's only one numbers weapon per kaiju. I don't think Mina, Hoshina nor Kikoru have numbers weapons. I just think they have 003 on them because they are in the third division.

Japanese schools go from spring to winter, rather than fall to summer. They have a long summer break, but students don't advance in grade until after the winter term. They have 30 more days of school in the year, as well, six weeks longer than most Western countries. Typically there are 3 terms, the first one running from April to July, then there's a month-or-so summer break. The second term begins in September and runs through December. There's a two week winter holiday, then a third term runs January through March at which point students are done with their current grade. Then there's only a about two week break before the next school year begins. Japanese high schools start in grade 10 and go four three years. Most of the characters are in grade 11. Education is only mandatory up through grade 9, the end of junior high school (grades 7-9), so not every student goes on to high school.

I love this episode so much, it's so hilarious with the high-nomads and Sokka. XD The badger-moles are also very cute, and the fact that they were tamed by music was also really sweet. And cannot forget the iconic "Secret Tunnel" song.

Damn. That video's lyrics were spectacular, though not perfect. The English version us great, but always threw me off. The subtitles for UA-cam for the original were nigh unreadable, back when the video came out. Whomever made these lyrics did a damn fine job. Great reaction. I've been going back and binging the reactions for this video, idky. Maybe because of season 2, but probably because Angel Rodriguez just finished his reactions to Oshi no Ko.

This episode reminds me of Toriko, shonen manga with the concept of exploring dishes and eating monsters. Neo, the final enemy is capable of eating anything to the point of eating explosion of earth destroying attacks. The characters whose body part were eaten by Neo can’t be regenerated by any means because the cell within those part are “giving up”. Those and the thought of eating Falin dragon part in this episode is creepy enough for shounen.

Azula was supposed to kill the Captain with a lightning blast, after he messed up her ambush, but Nickelodeon wouldn't allow it.
